Volunteer Wanted, must know Flash

I’m working on a new site design, with a banner done in flash. I’ve done part of it, but for the second part I’d like some nice text effects which require some actionscript knowledge I assume. If anybody is willing to help me out and complete the banner for me, I’d appreciate it. Just leave a comment if you’d like to help out and I’ll contact you. Thanks again.

Knockin’ on my door

I came home to a nice supprise today, a phone call from my ISP in regards to a copyright infringement with the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America). Apparently this Pamela lady called because I didn’t get back to the email she sent me on Monday. I never check that account so its a good thing they called. I was reading the email and it said I had 3 days to contact them or they’d shut off my internet. Guess it was a good thing she called today.

I promplty logged on to that email account and read over it. I replied and made sure to save a copy of the juicy stuff. Man, I love the MPAA. They nabbed me for downloading a copy of the Simpsons Season 2 DVD and the Season 1 DVD via Bittorrent. I checked the times in the notice and it was about 10AM, must have been in class and not around when it finished downloading to stop it. Oh well. I told my ISP that I had not completely downloaded it and have since deleted it as per their request in the email. I’m just waiting to hear back from them now. Good thing the MPAA didn’t catch me downloading seasons 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 that week also!

More site updates

For those of you checking back, I’ve made some site updates in the last few days. I got the gallery part up. I’ll be posting some pictures as I get time to go through them and organize them. I also have a download section where I’ll be posting some flash animations and games, along with short video clips and helpful programs. I’ve created the new navigation bar up top and changed some of the text in the footer at the bottom of the page. Let me know if anybody has any issues with site accessability. I’ll soon be adding an “about me” page a “contact” page with a form you can fill out to contact me along with some other ways to get in contact with me if you need something. Let me know what you think. If you need my email address there’s a link in the right column.

My car must only hate me

After 2 days of not having my car, I went over to the shop to pick it up yesterday afternoon. My mechanic told me he checked it over and over again and didn’t have it happen to him. Sporadic problems can get to be a pain in the butt sometimes, especially for me, because everytime one happens to me and I take it the shop, it doesn’t happen there. For now I’m back with it hoping it doesn’t act up again.

My parents are heading out tomorrow to look at a few more houses and see if they can find one they like. Time is quickly running out, but they have few they like and just need to narrow it down and make a deal.

With bad news comes good news

I’m trying to stay on the more positive side of things lately…

This morning I was on my way to school and I stopped at Sheetz to get gas. I filled up as usual, got back in my car and started it and went nowhere. Apparently my car didn’t like me today because the built-in anti-theft system kicked in and wouldn’t let me put it in drive. The theft light kept flashing on the dashboard as I sat there in disgust. I called AAA and they sent a tow truck out. As I was waiting I figured I’d try one more time just for kicks and this time it decided not to kick in the anti-theft mechanism and let me drive it. I pulled away from the pump, called AAA back and had them cancel the tow truck. Now being ever so late for class, I had to drive my car back the opposite direction, past my house to my mechanic. I got there and he told me he wasn’t going to be able to get to it til tomorrow. Guess I’ll be driving the Subaru for the next 2 days or so.

Now for the good news… We had somebody come look at our house Sunday morning. They showed interest and they came back for a second look today. I got home from work about 4:30 today and my mom was on the phone with my cousin, who just happens to be our realator. She said the people were writing up an offer at the moment. I went out and came home later and my dad was on the phone again with my cousin, she told him they made an offer for $25,000 less than the list price. He told her he wanted $10,000 more and he’d be happy. We got a call back shortly after and the agreed. A little while later my parents had to fill out about 20 pages of the sale agreement and fax them back over to my cousin. The only problem with their agreement is that they want to have a settlement date of December 29th. That means we have to be out by around Christmas. Oh well. The good news is that we sold our house. Now its time for my parents to go out and make few bids.

Ryan. Connect. v2.0

If you’re reading this, I guess you’ve seen the new site layout. I spent most of the afternoon changing things around and tweaking it. I’m working on building a navigation bar to go under the logo so that you can get to other parts of my site besides the blog. I will soon be opening up a picture gallery and a downloads part where you can get funny flash videos and games that I’ve collected. Let me know what you think of the new site and keep checking back for new updates.
